PETALING JAYA – Media Prima Berhad (Media Prima) has launched TonTon, a cutting-edge online HD-ready quality viewing experience which offers the individualism of customised content and interactivity of social networking.
Offering world class content from Hollywood movies and hit drama series to Asian dramas and its own vast library of local content which spans over two decades, TonTon will revolutionise the digital broadcasting landscape, how Malaysians are entertained on screen and open a new frontier for advertisers.
The TonTon portal is a project of Alt Media, Media Prima’s digital communications and broadcasting subsidiary which will present content in a cinematic environment on their personal computers and soon on connected devices such as mobile phones, Gaming and Media set top boxes and Internet TVs.
“TonTon will redefine how online video content is accessed as it offers an amazing world-class experience that is customised and personalised, while allowing the user to stay connected to social networks, which makes the transition from mobile to PC and TV seamless, said CEO of Alt Media Ahmad Izham Omar.
TonTon will avoid the bandwidth bottleneck in Malaysia that comes from international access by hosting all the content locally while the use of Adaptive Streaming allows the best bit-rate to be delivered according to a user’s available bandwidth.
Bringing everything together is its Intelligent Media Platform, which incorporates demographic, behavioural, contextual, location and device information which recommends content and advertising that matches the user’s profile and behaviour.
“Such sophisticated intelligence is highly sought-after by advertisers, as it leads to minimal wastage in advertising spend and allow the activation of more strategic campaigns,” said Izham.
Group Managing Director of Media Prima, Dato’ Amrin Awaluddin said TonTon will complement Media Prima’s free-to-air TV and radio stations by expanding the reach to the Gen Y and Gen Z audiences who prefer to access their content online and have greater control over what and when they watch it.

I think this is a great post. One thing that I find the most helpful is number five.
