There is some mistake in ur info.
I wish to correct it for u.
1. Don’t allow the USB Drive to Auto Play after plug in, cancel it.
Most of the time, Windows will autorun any .exe file that had listed in the autirun.inf, there is no way u can click cancel for it. The only way u do is to disable the autorun feature of windows manually. But still, u will have to plug in a pendrive, then right click and click properties then bla bla bla to disable the autorun for that drive number.
with the way u shown above, the virus actually already spreaded b4 u do step 2, 3 and 4.
3. Go to ->Start ->Run ->Type E:
u should say replace the letter E: to the letter of the pendrive, or else, ppl will not know wat is E: means.
4. Now you can view the Contents of your USB Drive. Copy the necessary files .Repeat the Process while using USB Drive.
sometimes, some virus is loaded at the time u just see the folder contents. such as vb scripted virus loader, so it it not completely safe as well.
3. After step 2 you can view the virus in the USB drive. (Apply How to avoid's procedures). Normal case, your autorun.inf was infected and pointed to run the virus program resides in your USB drive.
u should tell ppl that autorun.inf is actually not virus file. it is a loader info for windows to autoload programs that is written in autorun.inf.
most software CD/DVD, installer CD/DVD do have autorun.inf. even windows installer also have. so to indentify whether it is virus entry or not, 1st, check if there is any .exe file which is in hidden mode, 2nd, read the autorun.inf see if there is any entry that is suspicious.
the best way to avoid this problem actually have 2.
1. Abandon Windows, Use Linux(Ubuntu etc), but i know people will not accept this 1.
2. Use Pendrive Autorun blocker such as this 1.
Better use Kaspersky!
