After setting up a blog or a website, the next thing to do, is to add site / add url / add website to search engine and web directory such as Google, Alexa, MSN, Bing, Yahoo, Open directory, Blog directory, in order to become searchable. It is a kind of website promotion, in fact, it is the first step to introduce your website to the world for search engine traffic.

I didn't know that websites can be registered to these search engine sites. No wonder my personal site's PR is so low.

In my experience, I have found that instead of using the add url function of the search engines, it is better to get a link from a good site. Some bookmarking sites also help to get your new site indexed.
